The Full Story
About Me: Elizabeth Ontiveros-Cole
Born and raised in the City of Pomona, I attended Pomona schools and graduated from Garey High School in 1967. I grew up in a city filled with citrus orchards, and shops that aligned our historic downtown. Pomona was known as the "Jewel of Southern California and the gateway to the Inland Empire. It was the destination spot for dignitaries, movie stars, and wealthy businessmen. I was married in the beautiful First Baptist Church that stood on the corner of N. Garey and Holt Blvd, and I was a homemaker, became divorced, and raised 2 boys, on my own, as a single Mom. I went back to school and became a nurse for Pomona Unified School District for 25 years. I was always a concerned resident and trying to make a positive change for my city. After years of hands-on involvement with my neighborhood, I felt I wanted to do more for my immediate neighborhood, and ran for council member in District 4, with the encouragement of friends and neighbors. I ran against a 25-year incumbent in 2016 and won. I then ran in 2020 and won again.
